Hon. Silvester Adu, one of the political leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State has unveiled that his next political aspiration for 2024 Governorship Election in the state would be determined by his people.
Adu disclosed this during an interactive session with the Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ondo state Council held at the First Molac Hotel in Akure,Ondo State.
Mr. Olumuyiwa Adu said his journey into active politics was via a divine leading of God to rescue his people out of the political setback in Ondo State.
He says: “It is not me that will determine whether I am contesting any elective position ahead of 2024 Election in the state or not but my people will determine my next political moves”.
Dr Cubana as popularly called added that he is not over ambitious to occupy or contest in the forthcoming governorship election in the State but ready to render meaningful service whenever his people demand.
The barrister reiterated the need for any politician vying for elective position to seek the face and guidance of God, saying politics is not a tea party for political abecedarian.
He disclosed that his primary reason of joining politics and his former political party,People’s Democratic Party at a particular period is to work for the people who have been abandoned by the political elites, saying once he discovered that people of same ideology were not in the opposition party, he left for the ruling All Progressives Congress where his desire of touching the lives of his people could be a reality.
” l left People’s Democratic Party not because I am overambitious but because of lack of cohesion, love and unity between the leadership and members of the party and in this kind of environment, there’s no way my vision and mission for my people could be achieved”.
He furthered by saying that inspite of his total loyalty to his party, the citizens and residents of the state which would ever remain his priority,being a progressive People’s oriented leader.
He advocated for Nigeria Electoral Reform, Barr Adu said the menace of Money Bags politicians will continue if the institutions fails to address the abnormalities.
” Yahoo-Yahoo will only stop in Nigeria provided we have good government in place where visionary leaders take charge the helms of affairs of the country; our system encourages all these social vices that are slowing down development of the country”.
He admonished that for equity and justice, the Southern Senatorial District should produce the next governor of Ondo State unless the Party do otherwise saying that is only way a man from the Central Senatorial District could be candidate.
He therefore charged the electorates to always consider experience, values, integrity and capacity first when demonstrating their franchise rather than voting for Moneybags who will drive the state backward.
” We are starting our aggressive campaign soon in the three Local Governments of Akure South, Akure North and Ifedore where people would be sensitized on who to vote for, why they must vote and participate in the electoral process among others”.he said.
