The North Central Professionals in Politics (NCPP) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) Bill into law, describing it as a landmark decision that will drive the much-needed development in the region.
In a statement signed by its President, Kolade Olaoluwa, the group lauded the President’s commitment to equitable development across all regions of Nigeria, emphasizing that the establishment of the commission would help address the socio-economic and infrastructural challenges facing the North Central states.
“We extend our profound appreciation to all the present senators and house of representative members from the north central and other stakeholders that played vital roles to achieve this goal and further more, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the North Central Development Commission Bill into law. This bold step underscores his administration’s commitment to national development, inclusivity, and the economic transformation of every region,” the statement read.
The group charged the people of the North Central region to fully cooperate with the commission to ensure its success. It urged state governments, community leaders, and all stakeholders to align with the commission’s objectives to maximize the opportunities it will bring.
Furthermore, the NCPP called on those who will be appointed to lead the commission to prioritize the interests of the people, ensuring that the resources and interventions reach those who need them most.
“As the commission takes off, we urge those who will be entrusted with its leadership to steer its affairs with transparency, integrity, and dedication to the people of the North Central region. This commission must not become a mere bureaucracy but a vehicle for real progress,” Kolade Olaoluwa stated.
The North Central Development Commission is expected to focus on rebuilding communities affected by conflict, addressing infrastructural deficits, and fostering economic growth in the region.
The NCPP reiterated its commitment to supporting policies that advance the region’s development and called on all North Central stakeholders to remain united in ensuring the commission fulfills its mandate.
