NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS ONDO STATE CHAPTER HOLDS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING/PUBLIC LECTURE TODAY 26/19/2023,HONOURS DISTINGUISHED NIGERIANS
The Institute which was established in 1963, attained the status of a chartered Institute in June 1990 through degree No.16 (now an act of the national assembly) from which it drives the power of responsibility to register,set parameters of knowledge to acquire to qualify to practice,regulate the practice and development of the PR Professional as well monitor professional Conducts through an established code of ethics, the law stipulates standard academic and professional qualification into the Institute.
Speaking at the lecture that took place today at Buby’s Court Event Center,Oke-Ijebu,Akure was a veteran Journalist, lecturer, a renowned PR, Dr.Dayo Duyile, who doubles as the lecture chairman said there’s need for all professional practitioners to energize themselves through personal development.
Dr.Duyile further charged the participants to tap from the wealth of experience of the founding fathers of the profession by continue to add value the noble profession.
The Guest lecturer, Dr Felix Ale spoke on the theme of the programme;the Intersection of Journalism in Public Relations and Advertising and it’s Impact on the Society. He gave a clear definition and explained in a vivid term on Intersection of Journalism in Public Relations and said; As one of the most established public relations specialised practices, media relations has undergone dramatic changes in the wake of the evolving digital technologies and increasingly sophisticated communication ecosystem. Traditional media relations in real term has largely relied on news releases, media kit preparation and distribution to maximise publicity opportunities.
Dr. Felix Ale, admonished that this linear model has later been replaced by advanced Internet-based media relations through incorporating organisational websites, online newsrooms and social media tools (e.g., blog, twitter) to capture media attention.
Until recent years there has emerged an innovative third-party platform as a new ‘digital mediator’, which leverages the advantages of the up-to-date technologies ranging from AI, big data, and machine learning to collect media intelligence and streamline media relations practices.
He added that A core idea underpinning this new ‘digital mediator’ is to function like a shared resource platform to match the needs of journalists about story leads with the provision of relevant and quality sources from PR practitioners. This he said among other intellectual thoughts he shared.
One of the recipients of the NIPR award,Dr.Anthony Aduro,the CEO and founder of Aduro Farms a poultry and Farms situated at Okitipupa in Ondo State thanked the organizers of the annual meeting and Award investiture for finding him worthy as the Recipient of 2023 Foundation of the Year Award.
Dr. Anthony while talking the Tnntvchannels, after the event call on well-meaning Nigerians in diaspora to see reasons to return home and establish businesses, in order to grow our economy and create job opportunities for our teeming Youth especially in Ondo State.
