It was a monumental milestone in Abuja as the Executive Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), FCT, Alhaji Dr. Alhassan Sule, was conferred with the prestigious award of 2025 Most Outstanding Icon in Education and National Development of the Year.
The colourful ceremony, held at the UBEB Complex in Area 2, was marked with excitement and celebration as the board chairman expressed deep gratitude for the honour.
Presenting the award, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The New Nigeria Television Channels and Publisher of TNNNEWS Magazine, Dr. Seun Akinde, stressed the importance of building a sustainable and quality education system in Nigeria. He commended Dr. Sule for his consistent efforts in laying a solid foundation for the nation’s future through education, describing him as a beacon of hope and a champion of progress.
Dr. Akinde, in his presentation speech, noted that leadership is best measured by impact rather than titles, praising Dr. Sule for his tireless commitment to educational advancement and human development. He highlighted the achievements of the FCT UBEB under Dr. Sule’s leadership, emphasizing that his visionary contributions have uplifted the standard of education, empowered countless young Nigerians, and established a framework for sustainable national growth. According to him, “When education thrives, a nation prospers. And when leaders place people first, history remembers them kindly.”
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Alhassan Sule expressed heartfelt appreciation to TNNTV Channels and TNNNEWS Magazine for finding him worthy of the honour. He dedicated the award to the management team of UBEB and to all teachers in the FCT, whom he described as the true custodians of knowledge and nation-builders. Reflecting on his career, he revealed that he has spent over three decades in the teaching profession, traversing different categories and departments, and contributing his wealth of experience to the growth of education in Nigeria.
Delivering a goodwill message at the event, one of the invited guests recounted Dr. Sule’s passion for education, recalling a trip to China where the UBEB boss identified innovative opportunities in their school system. He noted that Dr. Sule had expressed a strong desire to see such innovations replicated in Nigeria to strengthen the nation’s educational framework.
The award, which recognized his dedication and enduring contributions, cements Dr. Sule’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s foremost advocates of educational excellence and national development.
