The Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Women Affairs, Hon. Dr. Seun Osamaye, has affirmed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, particularly in advancing the welfare of women across the state.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with TNNNEWS Magazine, Dr. Osamaye praised the overwhelming support received by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa during the 2024 gubernatorial election, describing his victory across all 18 local government areas as historic and reflective of the Governor’s accessibility, humility, and visionary leadership.
“This victory—what we now call the ‘18.0 Pro-Marks’—demonstrates the trust people have in his leadership, especially women and youths,” she said.
According to Dr. Osamaye, the administration’s agenda, themed “Odatuwa, O Duro,” is focused on dignity, empowerment, and barrier-free access to government support and services, with a particular emphasis on women empowerment.
As the Ondo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative—a federal empowerment program led by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu—Dr. Osamaye outlined a series of interventions already executed in the state. These include the Women Agricultural Support Program, which provides financial and material support to women farmers; the Young Farmers Club initiative for students; the distribution of over 10,000 professional medical kits to health workers; the provision of more than 5,000 textbooks and notebooks to schoolchildren; and the “Every Woman Gardening” program that supplies tools for household agriculture.
Other federal-supported projects include the distribution of digital tablets to students in underserved areas, the empowerment of 200 elderly persons with N200,000 each, and N50,000 grants given to over 1,000 women—with another round of beneficiaries expected soon.
Dr. Osamaye also disclosed plans by the state government to launch a new maternal health scheme known as “Ibi-Irorun,” designed to support pregnant women throughout the state.
Despite being in office for only a few months, she said the Governor is already setting the tone for a legacy centered on accessible and people-oriented governance.
“The Governor is building a legacy where every citizen can benefit without lobbying or influence. That’s the true essence of the Odatuwa, O Duro model,” she added.
On her working relationship with the First Lady of Ondo State, Mrs. Oluwasun Aiyedatiwa, Dr. Osamaye described her as a “mother to all” and a strong supporter of women-focused initiatives. She commended the First Lady’s active role during the First Lady of Nigeria’s recent visit to the state and her continuous support for grassroots development programs.
With strong federal-state collaboration and an inclusive development strategy, the Aiyedatiwa-led administration is steadily positioning Ondo State as a model for women-centered governance in Nigeria.
